Sunday November 1 from 8:30 - 3 (remember daylight savings ends early Nov 1st).
Attached see included map of the hunt area at McQuesten Farm. The P is where we will park, the B is the approximate location of the Porta Potty, and the E is where we will enter the property from the Charles Bancroft Highway in Litchfield.
The McQuesten family emigrated from Northern Ireland to New England in the 1730s. On March 5, 1744, William McQuesten purchased land along the fertile floodplains of the Merrimack River in Litchfield. The fertile soil made the land ideal for colonial agriculture, timber, and livestock.
Throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, successive generations of the McQuesten family cultivated the property
In the mid-to-late 20th century, like many traditional New England farms, McQuesten Farm adapted to modern suburban growth by pivoting toward direct-to-consumer agritourism and seasonal retail:
Today, McQuesten Farm remains a recognized historic landmark in Litchfield. Spanning nearly three centuries of continuous operation, it serves as both an active farm stand and a community gathering spot for fresh produce, pick-your-own crops, and seasonal events.
If anyone has items found at Hampton Falls they would like to add to the display case Deb is putting together, please bring them to this event.
